Sound Networks is a UK ISP and a sister company to Sound Marketing, for whom Dotfive developed a music-on-hold system (see separate case study).
Sound Networks came to us to develop websitevoicing.co.uk, which is a venture designed to sell a service to put audio on websites. Our specific role was to develop a system that would allow them to add client websites to a central web console, and browse these sites in an editor, adding and configuring audio. This would allow non-technical staff to manage the implementation of audio to customers' websites.
This project required the production of management software, an editing system and Flash-based audio players. The audio player would play audio based on data from the central server. The web console allows the creation of client site records, and the upload of media files. The editor launches the client site in a window with a special toolbar at the bottom. This toolbar allows audio players to be added to the client site in real time. Once added, players can be moved around the page, and their properties can be set - for instance, the track that they will play, whether they will auto-play, etc.

This project required some technical hurdles to be overcome, such as developing a method of allowing the editing software, which is launched from the main site, to interact with the client pages in order to add and manipulate the audio.
We were chosen due to the expert level of JavaScript development required.
The software was completed on time to the satisfaction of the client, who then authorised an additional development phase to add extra features such as custom colour configuration and themes, in order to match client website designs.
